Magna Carta Weekend - how to get involved
There's a real buzz building up in advance of the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta. Faversham is playing a starring role as it owns one of the original versions of this famous charter. One of the planned activities to celebrate this anniversary is the Magna Carta Weekend on the 13-14th June 2015. To be held in Faversham town centre, this promises to be a weekend of Medieval fun for local people and visitors from further afield.
If anyone is interested in taking part, there are plenty of opportunities for local people to get involved and enjoy being part of this 'once in a lifetime' event.
For example, do you fancy having a go at acting? A local theatre group called 'All the World's a Stage' is holding a series of ten medieval drama workshops for adults. Participants can learn about the life of medieval performers and outdoor performance skills. Participants will then appear in live performances taking place during the Magna Carta Weekend.
Alternatively, do you have a skill or craft that you could share with visitors to the Weekend? You could have a stall at the event for no charge and people can have a go at your activity or watch you at work.
The Magna Carta Weekend would also love to involve local volunteers in helping set up and to help out as marshals and guides during the Weekend. This would be a great way to take part in a fun, local community event.
