On the eve of the Transport Weekend

The Faversham Transport weekend is going to be awesome - May 16th and 17th

BUS TIMETABLES for the Saturday free rides.

The Transport Weekend showcases all that we love about Faversham and its surroundings; a lively town centre
surrounded by Brogdale - home of the largest fruit collection, Macknade Fine Food – the best selection of food in Kent under one roof and Standard Quay – the historical Creek side location at the end of Medieval Abbey Street.

Every location is involved in this year’s Transport weekend and additional locations not mentioned above can be reached on Saturday by a free bus ride so ‘Get exploring’!

To-date 335 vehicles have submitted their entry forms to be part of the 20th Faversham Car Show on Sunday.

So what else is happening then?

Saturday

In town there will be a full market supported by the ‘Best of Faversham’ stalls. You will also spot some large vehicles
and the opportunity to hop on some vintage buses and take a ride, and it’s all free.

Free bus rides - the bus timetable can be downloaded from www.faversham.org/carshow  where you will also find maps of the town centre to help you navigate your way around.

Standard Quay - at the bottom of Abbey Street you will find face-painting, glitter tattoos and the Creative Kent Baton – the creative bus and Punch and Judy and a Magic Show at 1.30pm, also a large selection of businesses with delicious food, drinks, gifts and more will all be open.

Alexander Centre - over the weekend the Alexander Centre on Preston Street is playing host to a stunning display of vintage bikes and there will be an opportunity for you to have your photo taken with a Penny Farthing!

Creek Creative - situated on the corner of Abbey Street is hosting Milly’s Charity cooking demonstration at 10.15 and selling Freya’s cookies from 10am to 2pm, plus there will be other delicious foods to eat and you can browse the gallery too.

South East Coachworks - remote controlled trucks and diggers are on display both Saturday and Sunday in the workshop at 38 Preston Street.

Park & Ride - we are pleased to announce that on both Saturday and Sunday there is park and ride at Macknade, Selling Road and Brogdale Market Place on Brogdale Road. Both these venues are providing parking and you can then jump on to a bus into Faversham to enjoy the town’s activities if you wish. All we ask is that you put a few pennies in the bucket, to help with the running costs.

Sunday

Faversham - the town will be absolutely bursting with vehicles, 335 at least! All carefully planned with allocated places and the team of volunteer marshals will be working extremely hard from 7am to ensure all the cars and bikes are carefully parked up. There will be an exciting mix of vehicles, something for everyone so do pop into town and have a look.

On Sunday there are lots of market stalls and food concessions around the town, alongside our favourite well-known
cafes, restaurants, and shops with the added bonus of live music, entertainment and a fun-fair in the main car park, we feel sure you will have a top day out! Punch and Judy’s first show will be at 10.30am taking place outside Baldy Butcher opposite HSBC.

Standard Quay will be host to the electric bikes and the Monster bike on the Sunday, plus all the businesses will be also open.

Don’t forget – to visit South East Coachworks to see the remote controlled trucks and the Alexander Centre’s large selection of Vintage bikes on Sunday too.

Wishing you all a very happy and enjoyable weekend!

We would like to say a massive thank you to all our wonderful volunteers, event sponsors, supporters and
visitors, without you we wouldn’t be able to have such a well supported popular Faversham Transport Weekend.
