Creek Creative background
Simon Giles and Anne MacLaren set up Creek Creative Studios in 2008, taking on the No.1 Abbey Street premises in July 2009, and were joined from by a core of talented volunteers. Together we have turned the empty shell of a unique building into a supportive environment for local innovators, artists, and individuals who enjoy working in a vibrant studio complex, including:
- Professional Artists and Designers
- Art and Design Graduates
- Multimedia Technicians
- Craft-Specialists
- Journalists and Writers
- Photographers
- Inventors / Free Thinkers
- Small Arts Organisations
- Musicians and Performers
Boost to local culture and productivity
The CC vision is to extend Faversham's rich history of Creek-based activity, by hosting a fertile mix of independent and local creative practitioners, and enabling them to work, trade, and develop their specialist skills.
Studio, gallery, and performance areas
Both the Ground and First Floor Studios are nearly full, and we are now expanding into the cavernous Lower Ground Floor. Soon we will be able to offer additional Studios, Performance Area and Gallery. The communication and display of work is vital to the creative process, which is why we provide public gallery space and the planned performance areas, in parallel with virtual galleries on our website:
www.creek-creative.org.
Creative skill development
Our on-site creative skills workshops, are open to local people, schools and industry, and are in high demand. Listed on our website are Forthcoming Day / Short Courses and all events are listed in the online calendar.
Community Interest Company
As a CIC, with only a modest amount of funding to date, we need your support! Further investment will improve the range and quality of facilities we can offer our artists and the public, while the ongoing building conversion can continue to retain No.1 Abbey Street’s unique character. We have much work to do especially on the Lower Ground Floor, restoring its cast iron pillars and glazed-brick barrel ceilings, plus further partitioning to provide more studios and project space, obtaining workshop equipment, and equipping the unique Performance Area for example.
Connections and support
