The vision

The aim is to provide a first-class centre with all the facilities that people need. It will be attractive to hire, which will generate income to enable the association to let rooms to local “not-for-profit” groups at reasonable cost. It will also fund WFCA’s aim to make the centre sustainable and to commission additional services for the community.

WFCA will work with housing associations, voluntary and community organisations and other public sector agencies.

The centre features or is developing:

  • All-purpose facilities to meet the recreational, educational and social needs of the community.
  • Offices for agencies and groups to work from and serve the community.
  • Youth club with its own separate space, operating three nights a week with qualified leader.
  • Daytime activities for  unemployed people.
  • Regular activities for senior citizens.
  • Holiday play clubs.

Events at the centre

West Faversham Community Association runs and hosts a busy fundraising programme of events at the centre.

Membership open to all

Membership is open to everyone in West Faversham and the adjoining area, which covers the rest of the town. The cost is only £5 a year for a family of up to two adults and any number of children. For senior citizens, the fee is only £3. For ease of administration, it is hoped that annual subscriptions will be paid by standing order. As a registered charity, the association can benefit from an income tax repayment on subscriptions paid under the Gift Aid scheme. So, members are asked to read and sign a Gift Aid declaration.

All members will get a membership card and will receive future newsletters. They can (if 18 or over) vote at the association's annual meeting and will also be able to take part in social events run for members.

Volunteers are needed for many tasks. Most roles take only a few hours a week, and it is a great opportunity to get involved in this exciting community project, to meet new people and to learn new skills. Phone or visit the Centre for details.

Tasks include working in the fundraising team, delivering newsletters, manning the reception desk and helping with maintenance of the grounds.
