The Market Inn on the corner of East Street and Park Road has been in existence for nearly 150 years. David and Suzanne Pott became the tenants five years ago, putting their energy into making the Market Inn a vibrant pub that prides itself on being traditional with lots happening for the customers to enjoy and participate in.
The Market Inn is a handsome Victorian building, deceptively large with generous inside seating space, a fabulous garden with two Bat and Trap pitches, and an outside terraced area. Windows on all sides offer plenty of natural light and enable you to view different aspects of its enviable location. From the quiet saloon bar with its comfortable leather chairs and coffee tables you can enjoy a view of the trees and grass of the Recreation Ground, a welcome respite from watching football on the Rec a cold winter's day!
The Market Inn is an active community pub with teams that participate in a host of events. It was voted Shepherd Neame Community Pub Of The Year 2009.
The Market Inn has teams for the following entered in local leagues;
- Bat and Trap: Ladies Tuesday night, Men Wednesday nights, April to September
- Pool
- Darts: all year round
- Crib
- Quiz: quiz season October to May
and proudly sponsors Millfield football club.
The pub boasts two pool tables and two dart boards, two bat and trap pitches, and a music box.
