There is a warm welcome at The Ship Inn Conyer now completely renovated by its new owner, Swale Marina to a contemporary pub and eating house.
Inside you will find that the traditional atmosphere with roaring fires and comfy armchairs blends perfectly with the modern facilities and ample light streaming in through the windows.
A Free House stocking a wide choice of cask ales including Adams and Shepherd Neame bitters together with guest ales and fine wines. Great British cuisine is on offer using locally sourced produce and local suppliers. Dishes are freshly prepared in the kitchen and the aim is to provide tasty traditional dishes with quality ingredients.
During the summer months dine al fresco in the courtyard or garden. Enjoy panoramic views across the marshes and if your timing is right watch the sun set while you dine.
Whether you are out for a short walk along Conyer Creek or are doing a 10 mile circuit using the Saxon Shore Way refreshments can be provided from a cup of tea or bowl of soup from the light lunch menu through to dining a la carte.
National Cycle route 1 is only yards away.
Dogs and children are always welcome: a drinking bowl for dogs is placed at the front entrance and there is a kids' menu.
If you require a venue the pub is able to accommodate small functions in its two dining rooms on the first floor.
Historically, The Ship name dates back to 1802 when the first alehouse licence was issued and it has been The Ship more or less ever since. The new pub sign which hangs from the beautiful iron work acknowledges past traditions of barge building and brick making that were so much part of Conyer but also represents today.
The wonderful display of photographs throughout the pub depicting a bygone era of sailing barges and hard work, including many pictures from Conyer, are from the collection of the late Don Sattin. Well worth a look.
