Kevin, Carol, Michael and staff welcome you to
the
Plough Inn, our fine English pub. A 13th Century ale house in the heart of the Kent countryside.
The
Plough Inn is a traditional family friendly pub with oak beams, an inglenook fireplace and a rich history. A wonderful large garden with children's playframe and Bat and Trap, both firm favourites.
The Plough Inn is enjoying a new lease of life since Kevin, Carol and Michael started managing the pub in June 2011. The 30 seater restaurant is thriving with the new tasty menu ( there are 20 additional seats in the bar area) and the regular social events.

Pub History
The main area of the pub was built as a cow byre around 1260 AD. At some point later it was converted into a blacksmith’s shop, we assume this was when the inglenook fireplace was added.
On 5th June 1755 it was inherited by Mr Sam Shepherd from a Mr William Bafs. In 1844 the title deed of the Plough and and premises at Lewson street was transferred to Mr Henry Shepherd Esq.
On the 4th July 1862 there was a reconveyance of messuage and premises called the Plough situated at Lewson street, Teynham, Kent from Henry Shepherd son & squire to Messrs. Shepherd & Neames.
On 9th November 1928 the Quit rent, Relief, Stewards Compensation and all other Manorial charges and Services were redeemed by Shepherd Neame from Mary Vivian Mrs Roper-Lumley-Holland for sum of thirteen shillings and sixpence.
