Bysing Wood Primary School is situated on the outskirts of the market town of Faversham. A building of modern architectural style, it is of single storey structure and is surrounded by large areas of green where our children are able to play.
At Bysing Wood Primary School, we value each child as an individual and encourage them to achieve their personal best in a happy, safe, stimulating environment; supported by a skilful and dedicated staff; nurturing responsible citizens.
Teaching and Learning
We tailor provision to the needs of each pupil, setting individual targets for every child. All lessons are planned and differentiated to challenge children in their learning. Pupils are given the opportunity to work independently, in groups or as a whole class. Music specialists, sports coaches and cycling proficiency experts regularly help enrich the valuable learning that takes place in our school.
Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard and library and children have access to a modern well equipped IT suite which is staffed during lunchtime so that pupils who wish to study, email or use the internet, can do so safely.
Our four and five year olds learn and play in a rich, creative environment, both indoors and out. They participate in a selection of carefully planned activities which enable them to reach the Early Learning Goals of the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ curriculum.
Key Stages One and Two
Our five to eleven year olds learn through a broad, balanced lively curriculum keeping the National Curriculum stimulating and making sure every child matters! All children regularly use our computer suite for information technology, literacy, mathematics, topic work and research.
Our involvement in sporting activities goes from strength to strength with our participation in many tournaments and competitions. Our children are always willing to be a team member and all children are given the opportunity to do so. They always represent the school in a very professional manner and this has been reflected in their achievements.
We offer children a wide variety of activities above and beyond our varied and active P.E curriculum. Our healthy breakfast club starts at 8am every morning. Lunchtime and after school clubs give children the opportunity to develop their sporting, musical and artistic skills.
We have a friendly group of parents who are always willing to help raise funds for the extra- curricular equipment that our children enjoy using.
Bysing Wood School values its community. We take part in many local activities, enabling pupils to explore the world outside the classroom and become involved in the local area. Visitors from industry and local businesses bring children knowledge and experience from outside the classroom.
The Children’s Centre
There is an independent Children’s Centre on the school site. It provides a range of services for under fives and their families in a supportive environment. Speech and language sessions and midwifery clinics are examples of the services available.
