Luddenham Primary School believes that every child can achieve and the school’s staff and governors strive to provide each child with the best possible support in order to allow them to reach their potential.
In a beautiful country setting on the edge of Faversham, Luddenham school was founded in 1907 to serve the local farming communities of the parish.
It is now a seven class school, Reception to Year Six, with a roll of 220 pupils accommodated in a suite of modern and Edwardian buildings furnished and equipped to 21st century standards, but which retains the friendly and caring ethos of a traditional village school.
The school’s most recent Ofsted Inspection was carried out in February 2009; the inspectors judging it to be good with outstanding features.
In their report summary the inspectors commented: “Pupils thoroughly enjoy school and their behaviour is outstanding. They have excellent attitudes to learning, work eagerly and share with one another. They are exceptionally conscious of their own safety and that of others. They establish very positive relationships based on politeness and mutual respect amongst themselves and with adults.
“These contribute greatly to the atmosphere in the school which is friendly and purposeful. Pupils’ eagerness to be at school and make the most of everything it has to offer is reflected in their attendance figures, which are above national levels.
“The school represents the pupils well and takes its responsibility seriously. Pupils’ above average standards in literacy and numeracy, and particularly their excellent social skills, mean that they are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their education.”
In 2011 pupils leaving Luddenham school went to the following schools: Abbey, Archbishop’s, Canterbury High, Fulston Manor, Highsted, Kent College, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar, Simon Langton Boys’, Simon Langton Girls’, St Anselm’s and Sittingbourne Community College.
The school has an active Friends’ Association into which all parents are automatically enrolled. Parental involvement and assistance with school activities is encouraged.
The school has a strong sporting and health tradition, holds an annual sports day and swimming gala and takes part in many local schools’ sporting events. The school organises frequent and varied visits out-of-school for educational and social purposes.
A daily bus service operates from Faversham and Oare to the school.
