Workers' Educational Association

Home / Business / Schools and Education / Workers' Educational Association

The Workers' Educational Association (WEA) is Britain’s major voluntary adult education organisation run "by the students for the students".

It is recognised and supported by central and local government. Each year its 10,000 courses, day schools and other activities complement those available via Adult Education Centres.

They tend to be non-vocational, often with a strong local interest, some being designed for groups of people with special or specific needs.

Further details are in the brochure WEA Courses for Adults – copies at Faversham Library – which covers the entire Kent area.

Meetings tend to be informal, participation is encouraged and there is a strong social element. There are summer and winter social events and an informal enrolment evening (on 13 September) at which you can meet the tutors over a glass of wine to discuss the forthcoming courses and day schools.
