A message from the Headteacher
At Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, we are proud to continue a tradition of grammar school education in Faversham which dates back to 1527. Our highly successful and welcoming school offers extensive opportunities for students to achieve academically, socially and personally. Students at Queen Elizabeth’s experience a high quality education which prepares them for their futures, whatever their aspirations and interests.
We combine the qualities and values of a traditional grammar school with a positive attitude to change. We ensure that all members of this school see themselves as part of a community whose success depends on each individual respecting the needs and values of their peers, thus fostering a life-long empathy for others.
What makes our school unique is the importance we place on developing interpersonal skills and qualities alongside high academic success. We offer outstanding student care, innovative, high quality teaching in a positive, happy atmosphere. We set challenging academic targets, whilst also encouraging our students to excel in the wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer.
Beyond the classroom
Queen Elizabeth’s is proud of its reputation as a place where students enjoy their school years. This enjoyment is enhanced by the many opportunities available to all students outside the curriculum. There is a full programme of extra-curricular activities including numerous clubs, societies and sporting opportunities. In addition to regular visits to all corners of Europe, recent trips have seen students visit Morocco, Cuba and the USA.
The school has an active exchange programme with partner schools in France and Germany, which at almost 60 years old is the longest running in the country. A further exchange has been arranged, beginning in 2011 with a school in Kerala, India.
Our students enter into the adult world with the knowledge and confidence to fulfil their own potential and in many cases, become leaders in their chosen field, as well as responsible and reflective members of society.
We aim to:
• provide high quality teaching across a wide range of academic disciplines, allowing for student choice and specialism
• enable every student to achieve high quality academic qualifications
• develop supportive, responsible and productive relationships both within the school and across the community
• provide excellent extra-curricular opportunities for all students, encouraging them to participate in a wide range of activities within and beyond the classroom
• foster a sense of enjoyment and fun in all our students.
