Revving up for the best Faversham Transport Weekend ever!

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Faversham Transport Weekend has lined up new displays and entertainment for its popular town centre event.  For the first time vintage bicycles will be making a welcome appearance, along with rides on seven-seater pedal bikes.  For the aircraft enthusiast, there will also be a display of large model aeroplanes.

Faversham Transport Weekend is free to the public and every year is jam-packed with fun and excitement for all the family.  With 500 classic vehicles displaying over the weekend, there’s plenty to keep vehicle lovers happy and lots for everybody else too. Visitors love the weekend and every year thousands of people flock to Faversham to take part.

On Saturday 16th there will be dozens of vintage buses and large commercial vehicles with free trips on beautiful old buses around Faversham.  Visitors can also enjoy the Faversham and Best of Faversham Markets featuring locally produced foods, arts and crafts. On Sunday 17th Faversham will fill with hundreds of classic cars and motorbikes.

There will be plenty of family fun with live music throughout town; Punch and Judy; face painting and a funfair in Central Car Park. Market stalls will be selling food, drink, accessories, crafts, vehicle memorabilia and much more.  Many town centre shops and cafés will also be open.

New for 2015 - Vintage Bikes

For the first time this year, The Weekend will include an exhibition of vintage bicycles with a display of cycles
through the ages.  Entitled ‘From Boneshaker to BMX’ the event is free to attend and will be held at the Alexander Centre over the entire weekend. It is being organised by the Veteran-Cycle Club.

Clive Foreman from the Club, which is holding the exhibition to mark its 60th anniversary, says: “The weekend event is an exhibition of cycles that illustrate the development of the cycle from circa 1865 to 2015. There will also be a display of cycling aspects that relate to Faversham or to Kent.”

Other bicycle fun this year includes rides on seven-seater pedal bikes and 'roller-bike' games for children, taking place at Standard Quay in Faversham.

On Sunday 17th, Shepherd Neame will be running Transport Weekend brewery tours.  For information click here

Make a weekend of it

For those driving to the event, there will be a free park and ride bus service from Macknade Selling Road and Brogdale Farm along with parking at Queen Elizabeth School with a small charge and car wash service.
