The sun shone and visitors and vintage vehicles poured into Faversham for a spectacular Transport Weekend. Organisers were delighted with the number of visitors attending the event - which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

Chris Bichard from Faversham Business Partnership, which organises the event on behalf of Faversham businesses, says: “We are absolutely delighted with the success of this year’s event.  The calibre of the vehicles taking part was better than ever and they were enjoyed and admired by thousands and thousands of visitors who came to Faversham to see the show.

“Faversham is a small town with a big heart and the Transport Weekend is the perfect example of what can be achieved when the community works together.   Members of the public, local businesses and town councillors all joined forces to make this event a huge success.”

In addition to the usual vehicles displays pedal bikes were included for the first time, with an exhibition of bicycles through the ages at the Alexander Centre.   This year also saw extended fun and activities down at Standard Quay and camping for visitors during the weekend at Brogdale.

Chris Bichard comments: “The Faversham Transport Weekend continues to thrive, prosper and grow.  It started life as a one day event and has now expanded to include the whole weekend, which attracts tourists to town from further afield.  We are delighted that Standard Quay and the Town Quay were involved in the event this year and that the size of the show continues to grow.  Watch out for next year – it’s just going to get better and better!”
