Education Service

The Faversham Society offers an Education Service based on the collective knowledge of members of the Society and on the items in the Museum collection.
Faversham Society Education Service In summary the areas in which the service is offered are as follows:
  • History and Geography at Key Stages 1,2 and 3
  • Literacy Hour and Numeracy Hour
  • Project support at Key Stage 4, A-level and degree level
  • Support of students and researchers working on their own projects
  • Continued publication of historical information.The service can be offered in the form of visits by school parties to the Fleur de Lis, visits by Faversham Society staff to schools, or the supply of collections of items, maps and documents related to a particular theme.
The Society has worked with schools in the following ways:
  • Carried out a geophysical survey at Minster Abbey with A-level (archaeology) students
  • Provided resources for a Transport in the Past project (KS1)
  • Hosted visits to the Fleur de Lis by pupils specifically looking at Toys in the Past(KS1)
  • Hosted visits by pupils with special needs
  • Identified items from the museum collection suitable to support a GSCE project The Effect of World War 1 on Faversham (KS4)
  • Hosted visits by pupils specifically looking at Victorian Industry in Faversham.
