The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) provides advice over a whole range of matters, welfare benefits. Disability benefits, such as Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit etc

On 1 June 2004 the Faversham & District Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and the Sittingbourne & Sheppey CAB merged to form The Citizens Advice Bureau in Swale. This new CAB serves Faversham, Sheppey, Sittingbourne and the surrounding villages in the Borough of Swale on the north coast of Kent, UK.

The CAB is an important part of community life and dealt with over 24,000 enquiries in 2004/5. These included general enquries on benefits, consumer affairs, housing, employment, legal and relationships, and also specialist advice. The Bureau recovered more than £250,000 for clients by increasing income and/or reducing their debts.

The CAB has a Manager and two Deputy Managers, with around 65 volunteer advisors and clerical staff. All advice staff undergo assessment and free training by the Bureau and work a minimum of six hours per week. They can qualify for a Certificate in Advice Work, and the training and experience gained are invaluable assets in many other jobs. If you would like to learn more about the work of the Bureau or are interested in becoming a volunteer, please visit our website or contact us at the address below.

The Bureau is behind the Allegro Dance Studio opposite the garage at the town centre end of Stone Street. It is within easy walking distance of the station, and there is car parking at the end of Bank Street by the Health Centre and swimming pool.
