Macknade Fine Foods stages a special event, in supper club style, showcasing shoulders of Kentish hogget – older than lamb but younger than mutton – from Pasture for Life-certified farmers in Kent, exploring the different flavour profiles.
The farmers will be there to talk about their hogget and how they are raised. You’ll also hear from Macknade’s head butcher, Roy Campbell, about why it supports the Pasture for Life movement, and from the Pasture-Fed Livestock Association itself.
In addition, Boutilliers, the on-site brewers at Macknade, are creating a beer pairing to complement the hogget.
Hogget is a little older than lamb but younger than mutton (usually aged between 12 and 24 months). This means the shoulders are slightly larger than and have had more time to develop flavour.
Seating is banquet style in the café area, giving guests the chance to meet new people and mingle.
Tickets are £40 and include a tasting of four hogget and your beer pairing. Macknade is also including a canapé and welcome drink, a selection of seasonal sides, a light dessert, and tea and coffee to finish the evening off. Additional drinks will be available to purchase from the bar.
Tickets can be booked through through macknade.com/community/whats-on/events.
