In 1945 an Edith Barbara Rose EVANS gave her address as 13 Abbey Street, Faversham.
If there were any Kelly's Directories available during the war years, or soon after, I wonder if anyone can confirm who was living at that address around that time. Edith Evans may have been a lodger.

My Faversham Society colleague Peter Stevens states that Edith Barbara Rose Evans was housekeeper at 13 Abbey Street to William (Bill) Newing, a seafarer working on sailing barges. 13 and 13a Abbey Street were two tiny cottages, evidently demolished after 1945, and in 1988 were superseded by the present No 13, in Georgian style. Peter doesn't know when Bill Newing moved to the old No 13 but reports that in 1926 he was living with his mother at 23 Abbey Street.
Peter was born and bred in Abbey Street, where his parents had a shop, so his information about Edith Evans is first-hand. As you may know, he has written two 'Faversham Papers' about Abbey Street.
