Sir Sidney Alexander

Sir Sidney Alexander was a doctor whose record decade as Mayor of Faversham (1910-20) included the years of the First World War (1914-18). His wartime public service was recognised with a knighthood. Sir Sidney, a pioneer of varicose vein treatment in his London practice, was a GP at his home, Gatefield House, in Faversham’s Preston Street, now called the Alexander Centre and bearing a commemorative plaque.
