Field Maple Tree

Spuckles & Kennelling Wood Nature Reserve consists of about 32 acres of mixed ancient woodland on a chalk escarpment with a clay cap.

Spuckles & Kennelling Wood supports a diverse mixture of trees: field maple, oak, hornbeam, hazel, holly, beech, ash, spindle and wild cherry. The woodland flora is correspondingly rich, with violets, primrose, sanicle, herb-Paris, yellow archangel and carpets of bluebell on the acid clay.

How to find Spuckles & Kennelling Wood Nature Reserve

Take the A251 from Faversham towards Ashford and just beyond Leaveland, turn right (signposted Stalisfield).

Access

There are two lay-bys where cars can be parked beside Thornycroft Lane right on the edge of the wood and within 70 yards of the reserve entrance.
