Introduction
The Faversham Website aims to be a comprehensive information source and reference to all things to do with the Faversham area, being both the town of Faversham and its surrounding parishes and villages.
The website covers the ME13 postcode area plus the villages of Conyer, Doddington, Lynsted, Newnham and Teynham with their surrounding areas.
For more information on the area of Coverage of the Faversham Website and information on who operates the site, please go About Us.
You can alter the size of the text displayed by the Faversham Website. You do this by clicking on one of the
on the top menu bar. The first 'A' is the more normal setting, with the second 'A' larger and the third 'A' larger again.
However, remember that the font size on your screen is also controlled by your choice of settings in a) your browser eg in Internet Explorer, b) your windows/linux operating system eg in Windows XP and c) your screen resolution.
For most people, the optimum settings are:-
Windows
Screen Resolution - 1280x1024px
Appearance - Windows XP style; Font size: large
Internet Explorer 7
Text Size - medium
Website
Smallest 'A'
Internet Explorer 7
If you are having difficulty reading some text Internet Explorer 7 makes it easier to enlarge page elements to make them easier to see.
To enlarge only the text of a displayed web page, click on the Page button and make a selection from the Text Size menu.
The Zoom option, which enlarges entire pages, can also be accessed from here, but it is easier to use the same option in the lower-right-hand corner of the screen.
Click on the magnifying glass to zoom in a little or on the menu to the right to select a particular zoom level.
The main sections of the site, Home, Community, Visitors, History and Business can be accessed either via the Home page or the menu that runs along the top under the Market Town of Kings logo.
Within a page, all links are shown in blue and will have an underline when your mouse hovers over it.

A breadcrumb is a navigation tool that you can use to "back" your way back to where they came from. It is a hierarchical representation of how you got to where you presently are in the website.
An example of a breadcrumb is:
You are here: Home > Community > Churches > Graveney
This text can be seen at the top left of every web page just under the main menu bar. All you do is simply click on any of these items and go directly to that page.
If you are not sure where to look for the information you require, you can search the site using one of the two search facilities on the site.
You can either search the wole site from the 'Search' box at the top right of every page, or just the Busness Directory entries from the main page of the
Business Directory.
Searching the whole site also searches the Business Directory, see below.
Searching the Whole SiteDoing a search on the Faversham Website is easy. Simply enter one or more search terms (the words or phrase that best describe the information you want to find) into the search box and clicking the ‘Go’ icon button.
Choosing Search Terms Choosing the right search terms is the key to finding the information you need. Our site search engine looks for each of the search terms you chose and produces results that contain all the words.
Start with the obvious eg if you’re looking for general information on walks in the Faversham area, try ‘walks’. But it’s often advisable to use multiple search terms; if you’re want to find walks in Doddington, then entering 'walks Doddington' will find pages with walks in and around Doddington.
Searching the Business Directory Our Business Directory contains over two hundred businesses in the Faversham area listed in over 170 business types.
You can search by business type or business name by entering the type or name in the search box and clicking the 'Go' icon button. eg entering 'bed and breakfast' will find all the bed and breakfast properties listed.
You can print a page by clicking on the print icon

on the top menu bar.
PDF files
The PDF file format is a common internet file format (PDF stands for Portable Document Format) and is used for many of the files available on the Faversham Website.
They are indicated on the site by the .pdf file icon

.
To be able to read and/or print a PDF file you require a program called Acrobat Reader. If you do not have this free reader, the program is available free of charge from the
Adobe Acrobat website.
You can also use the free
Foxit Reader. This is a smaller program (the download is less than 1MB), so it downloads quickly, it doesn't need any installation and can therefore start to run it as soon as you've downloaded it.
The PDF file format is used for electronic distribution because it faithfully preserves the look and feel of the original document complete with fonts, colours, images, and layout. It also can be used across many different types of computers and browsers. It is commonly used for government publications, leaflets and forms.
The Forum is where you can post, and read notices about the town and the surrounding area, comment on notices posted by others, and generally comment about the Faversham area.
