The Faversham Enterprise Partnership Mission

The Faversham Enterprise Partnership is a broadly based, local business, commercial and community partnership that works to facilitate, support and help shape a distinctive Faversham area business direction for the local community.

Partnership members work together for the mutual benefit of the town, the local area and themselves, by facilitating the way forward for economic development and improvement in the Faversham area.

The work of the partnership is community based and, as such, reflects the following vision for Faversham, as agreed by the Faversham Town Council with the support of local organisations and businesses

  • A market town growing naturally
  • Generating a concentration of specialty shops
  • Developing the economy to provide a greater proportion of high-value employment
  • Providing services and facilities to enable the town to become a centre of niche tourism in the town and countryside
  • Providing a comprehensive centre of services for Faversham and its surrounding villages.

Faversham Enterprise Report – Key Points

The Faversham Enterprise report was prepared by the town council’s Business Consultant for and in conjunction with the Town Marketing Group (TMG) and agreed by Faversham Town Council at its meeting on 11 August 2003 and by Swale Borough Council at its meeting on 3 September 2003.

The report's key points were:

  • Faversham needs to take decisive action if it is not to be left behind.
  • Opportunity for the Faversham area to focus on high quality, specialist retailers and businesses, and for it to expand into niche and quality tourism.
  • Considerable synergy exists between the town and its surrounding area, which should be harnessed for the benefit of both.
  • Greater emphasis should be given to marketing and promoting the Faversham area.
  • The need for key players in Faversham and the surrounding area to work together. All to be working to agreed objectives based on the common vision for the Faversham area.
  • The proposals to be realised by the creation of sustainable pro-business public/private consortium.
  • The consortium to be an action-orientated partnership focused on tangible achievement.
  • Consultations with and support received from Faversham Chamber of Commerce, Faversham Area Visitor Attractions’ Forum, Swale Tourism Association, Shepherd Neame, Kent Tourism Alliance, Kent Rural Community Council, Medway Swale Estuary Partnership, Faversham Website Board, Swale Borough Council, Faversham Society, Kent County Council and Hugh Robertson MP.
  • Specific pieces of work aimed at promoting the Faversham area and its commercial life proposed by consultees to be undertaken by the new consortium.
