Edward Jacob - Preston Street

Edward Jacob (c1713-1788) was the author of History of Faversham (1774) and Plantae Favershamienses (1777), listing uncommon plants in the area. A surgeon at his home, 76 Preston Street, Faversham, he  was four times Mayor of Faversham. In 1770, he published an edition of Arden of Faversham, in which he raised the question of whether the play was Shakespeare’s, a topic still sparking academic debate. The nearby Fleur de Lis Heritage Centre has a display about Jacob.
