Albert Smith

The Hollywood pioneer Albert E. Smith, co-founder of Vitagraph Studios and winner of a Special "Oscar" in 1947, is credited by a plaque on 74 West Street, Faversham, where he lived in his youth. The plaque is one of two in Faversham bearing the legend "Commemorating the Centenary of Cinema 1996 / In association with the British Film Institute". The other is on the listed Tudorbethan-style Royal Cinema in Market Place.
