FAVERSHAM TRANSPORT WEEKEND
19th and 20th May 2012
(including the Classic Car & Motorcycle Show,
Veteran Bus Display and Spitfire Steam Train)
The famous Faversham Classic Car Show has been extended to a weekend-long event embracing all forms of historical vehicles and displays. And, to reflect the increasing range of those events and displays, the show is now called Travel Through Time. As it increases in size and quality the transport weekend promises to continue as a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike.
Held in Faversham’s historic town centre, which enhances the marvellous atmosphere it creates, the event will include live entertainment, stalls and family activities. On Saturday 19th there will be a display of vintage buses, with classic cars and motorcycles on Sunday 20th. The Spitfire Steam Train will run from London to Faversham on the Sunday. The weekend is a fantastic weekend for both vehicle enthusiasts and ordinary people alike. It’s a great day out for the whole family.
The 2011 event was the biggest and busiest yet. More than 10,000 visitors flocked to the town centre to see historic vehicles and enjoy the entertainment. For the first time the car show was fully booked with more than 350 classic car and motorcycles exhibiting.
The historic, market town of Faversham is the perfect setting for the Travel Through Time weekend with its many independent shops, along with a mouth-watering range of cafés, restaurants and pubs. The weekend is a lovely opportunity to enjoy a weekend of classic vehicle heaven and Faversham has excellent B&Bs and other places to stay.
While in Faversham, there are many other interesting things to do, such as touring Shepherd Neame’s brewery, the oldest in the UK, taking a picturesque local walk, visiting historic houses and beautiful gardens, or using our wonderful local amenities such as the town’s cinema or the very popular swimming pools.
