Cask Ales
Shepherd Neame produces a range of traditional Kentish ales brewed for the cask - beers which some people call 'Real Ale'.
These legendary brews, made to be hand-drawn with loving care straight from the cask, are - literally - 'living' beers, as they continue to ferment in the cask after delivery to the pub cellar. Each has a distinctive flavour, but all are brewed to a singular standard, using the purest artesian well water and the finest hops and malting barley.
Keg Ales
Shepherd Neame produces two brewery-conditioned draught beers - sometimes known as keg ales - which are brewed in exactly the same way as our traditional, cask beers but filtered before being put into pressurised kegs.
This ensures absolute consistency of taste, and is the preferred draught beer for bars where there is limited, or no, cellar space.
Lagers
While Shepherd Neame has a national reputation for its traditional ales, it has a truly international reputation for lager.
Some of the world's leading breweries entrust Shepherd Neame to brew their brands under licence for UK and European markets, including Oranjeboom Pilsener, named best draught lager in the world in the 2002 International Brewing Awards.
