Age UK Faversham and Sittingbourne

Age UK Faversham & Sittingbourne offer a wide range of services to help and support Older People in their local communities. There are opportunities for Socialising at all three Centres and support with Bathing, Toenail care and we have resident Hairdressers as well. For those unable to reach our Centres or who do not need this facility, they can order a hot meal to be delivered from our Meals on Wheels delivery service, each and every day of the year. A variety of opportunities are on offer for people with a Cognitive impairment or Dementia related issues together with Carer Support, for those looking after their loved ones with this debilitating illness. Our Information & Advice Service can inform you of your benefit entitlement and our Care Navigators can also provide advice and support or refer you to other services where appropriate. Age U Can is another service that is available if you feel you would like help with those day to day chores that you may find hard to deal with like Cleaning or Shopping. We also run a Befriending Service for those people in need of a visitor and a friendly face to chat to by one of our Volunteer Befrienders.

Day Services are available to anyone over fifty as follows with limited Transport to those who cannot make their own way in:

Faversham's “Paula Owen Centre”; Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays 9.00am to 4.00pm

Teynham's “Belle Friday Centre”; Wedesdays and Fridays 9.00am to 4.00pm

Sittingbourne's “Heather House Centre”; Mondays to Fridays 9.00am to 4.00pm

Dementia Day Services are available to anyone who has early onset to mid/advanced Cognitive Impairment, dependant on individual's ability to socialise at Teynham's “Belle Friday Centre”: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 9.00am to 4.00pm

COG's Clubs held three times a week for early onset Dementia, no transport available for this Service. They are held at:
Faversham's “Paula Owen Centre”; Wednesdays and Fridays 10.00am to 3.00pm and Sittingbourne's “Heather House Centre”; Fridays 10.00am to 3.00pm

Over Fifties Drop-In Self Help Club is available at the Faversham's “Paula Owen Centre”; Thursdays to Sundays 10.00am to 3.00pm. We offer a communal venue to meet or just somewhere you can seek company or meet new friends etc. There is no personal support given on these days, so a Community Centre for just a coffee and read of the paper to a group meeting, drop in and chat with us.

Possible Groups could include “Grandparent/Toddler Groups, Camera Club, Trips/Outings Group or an Indoor Bowls Club”.

The professional staff are assisted by a group of enthusiastic volunteers who come regularly to help in a variety of ways.


Volunteering can be both beneficial and rewarding to you and your Community. If you have an interest or wish to support us with one of the following areas, please give us a call or pop in for a chat at any of our Centres. There are a number of different volunteering opportunities available at Age UK Faversham & Sittingbourne and not forgetting Teynham.

Opportunities include:
• Helping in the Day Centres
• Helping with Meals on Wheels
• Helping in our Charity Shop
• Helping with Fundraising
• Escorting duties on the Mini Buses
• Befriending
• Helping with Social Activities
• Helping with Administration
