Gym Club

The Faversham Community Gymnastic and Activity Centre has developed from Faversham Gym Club, which has been established in the town of Faversham since 1979. We operate, since 23 February 2003, from the new Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Centre in Whitstable Road, Faversham.

Gym ClubThe new centre is owned and leased from Swale Borough Council, but we receive no subsidy. The equipment for the new centre has been provided with Sport England funding, as well as many years of hard work and fund-raising by our members. As well as the area for gymnastics we have a large indoor area with equipment to keep children occupied safely.

A small cafe provides drinks, snacks and light meals to users at reasonable prices. When not in use for classes or booked groups, parts of the centre can be hired and we also offer birthday parties in the adventure play area.

Faversham Gym Club is affiliated to the British Amateur Gymnastics Association, the South East region and Kent Amateur Gymnastics association. Our aim is to allow children and adults of all ages to make new friends and keep fit in a healthy, social atmosphere, and we have over 700 members.

There are recreational classes for children starting as soon as they can walk, and for adults there is a range of activities to improve fitness in a fun and social way, as well as free weights and machines for a workout.
As a community based gym and charity we keep prices as low as is reasonably possible so that as many people as possible can benefit from our facilities.

Our activities include:-
  • gymnastics
  • keep fit & yoga
  • weights & machines
  • circuit training
  • martial arts
  • trampolining
  • induction courses
  • circus school

Through the hard work of our committee and members we now have, in the new centre, a full competition sized gymnastics area with sunken trampolines and new equipment so that, whatever their ability, our members can develop their skills and interests to the highest possible level.
We provide qualified and experienced coaches for all classes, and children of all abilities from walking age upwards can participate in badge award schemes to give them a sense of achievement in their sessions at the gym. Many children use our classes just for fun and exercise, but for those with an interest and ability there is a competitive squad.
